Porcelain Laminate Veneers

Porcelain laminate veneers have evolved from a conservative aesthetic solution to a highly popularised cosmetic trend—often driven more by social media than sound clinical judgement. This lecture aims to demystify porcelain laminate veneers by separating marketing myths from biological and material realities.

The session will explore the biological basis of enamel preservation, indications and contraindications, and the critical role of case selection in veneer success. Concepts such as no-prep, minimal-prep, and over-preparation will be analysed through clinical examples, highlighting how improper planning can compromise bonding, longevity, and pulpal health.

The lecture will also discuss adhesive protocols, common causes of veneer failure, and the ethical responsibilities of clinicians in the era of “Instagram” dentistry. Emphasis will be placed on developing a rational, evidence-based approach rather than following aesthetic trends blindly.

By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to critically evaluate veneer cases, understand when not to veneer, and appreciate why true aesthetic dentistry lies in respecting biology, not chasing likes.
